Tribute act Pink Talking Fish expanded well beyond their usual mix of Phish, Talking Heads and Pink Floyd covers on New Year’s Eve 2023 at So Many Roads in Denver. The quartet gave a taste of the three-set performance by sharing official video showing how they started their second set and 2024.
Pink Talking Fish — bassist Eric Gould, guitarist Cal Kehoe, drummer Zack Burwick and keyboardist Steve Learson — kicked off their middle frame in Denver on December 31 by moving back and forth between the Grateful Dead classic “Shakedown Street” and Deodato’s discofied interpretation of “Also Sprach Zarathustra,” aka “2001.” Kehoe helmed the Dead cover and starred on the sizzling “2001.”

Eric Gould counted down into the New Year after the 16-minute “Shakedown Street”/”2001” medley. PTF then played the traditional “Auld Lang Syne” to ring in 2024 as balloons dropped from the venue’s rafters.
The group continued their second set with performances of the Beastie Boys’ 1994 smash “Sabotage” and Fatboy Slim’s 1999 hit “Praise You.” Pink Talking Fish’s recently released video documents the set through “Sabotage” and includes “Praise You” as the soundtrack to a year-spanning photo montage assembled by Gould.
