Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed a pair of movie-themed “Flockbuster” livestream concerts originating from The 8×10 in Baltimore on Saturday and Sunday. The band unveiled official video of their first ever “Mission KillpossiBill” mashup, which was played as part of Saturday's show.
“Mission KillpossiBill” mixes elements of the Mission: Impossible theme song with portions of Tomoyasu Hotel’s “Battle Without Honor Or Humanity.” Lalo Schifrin composed the Mission: Impossible theme song in 1967 for the television show. Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. of U2 reworked the song for the first installment of the Mission: Impossible film series in 1996. While Tomoyasu Hotel’s “Battle Without Honor Or Humanity” was originally written for the 2000 flick New Battles Without Honor And Humanity, director Quentin Tarantino famously used the song for his 2003 movie, Kill Bill Volume 1.
Pigeons Playing Ping Pong debuted “Mission KillpossiBill” during their second set on Saturday night. The mashup began with the Mission: Impossible theme before the quartet worked in “Battle Without Honor Or Humanity.” A guitar-driven jam led back into the Mission: Impossible theme to conclude “Mission KillpossiBill.”
