Dead Feat, Twiddle & Midnight North :: 04.29.17 :: Republic :: New Orleans, LA
The 6th Annual Nolafunk During Jazz Fest series is well underway at venues in New Orleans. On Saturday Republic hosted supergroup Dead Feat along with support from Bay Area Americana act Midnight North followed by a guest-filled late night show from Vermont jam quartet Twiddle.
After Midnight North kicked off the evening, supergroup Dead Feat took the stage. The 2017 version of Dead Feat found Little Feat’s Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett joined by Anders Osborne, Jackie Greene, Brady Blade and Carl Dufrene as well as special guest John Kadlecik. On Saturday Dead Feat mixed Grateful Dead staples (“Scarlet Begonias”/”Bertha”) with Little Feat hits (“Fat Man In The Bathtub”/”Skin It Back”) and NOLA themed songs (“I Walk On Guilded Splinters”/”Meet Da Boys On Da Battlefront”). Twiddle’s late night performance saw the quartet aided by Midnight North’s Alex Jordan on “Apples” and “When It Rains, It Pours” plus Grahame Lesh on “Subconscious Prelude” as well as Brandon “Taz” Niederauer on “Mamunes The Faun” and “Lost In The Cold.” Chris Houser of The Werks also got in on the guest action by sitting in with Twiddle on “Syncopated Healing.” Check out Adam McCullough’s gallery of photos from Republic on Saturday night:
