Higher Ground Hosting Phish ‘Dinner And A Movie’ Screening At Drive-In Experience
A screening of Phish‘s Dinner And A Movie archival video broadcast will take place via Higher Ground’s Drive-In Experience at Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction, Vermont on Tuesday, June 16. The show that will be featured will be announced by the band later today.
Proprietors of Burlington’s Higher Ground venue put together the outdoor Drive-In Experience to host live events starting tomorrow, June 13. Tuesday’s Dinner And A Movie will be simulcast on a 27′ by 15′ LED video wall with audio broadcast over FM radio. The Drive-In Experience can accomdate up to 250 vehicles, which will be parked six feet away from each other with space for attendees to set up lawn chairs or a blanket. Attendees must abide by CDC and Vermont guidelines put in place during the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.
The start time is listed as 7 p.m. ET, which is earlier than Dinner And A Movie’s usual 8:30 p.m. beginning. However, in April, Phish did begin an airing of their three-set August 22, 2015 performance at Magnaball at 7 p.m. ET. Tickets go on sale at 3 p.m. ET today via Eventbrite. Proceeds will benefit Phish’s Waterwheel Foundation.
This weekend, the Higher Ground Drive-In Experience will host a series of three high school graduation ceremonies. Vermont’s own Kat Wright will perform at HG’s Drive-In Experience next Friday, June 19 with more concerts to be announced. “The goal,” explained Alex Crothers, founder of Higher Ground, “is to provide a community resource to help facilitate public gatherings of all types. We’re in uncharted territory but we imagine religious worship, charity bingo nights, live streaming of concert events, chamber orchestras, live plays, weddings, political rallies, etc.”
