Phil Lesh & The Terrapin Family Band Share ‘Box Of Rain’ Isolation Video

Phil Lesh recruited The Terrapin Family Band to record the Grateful Dead classic “Box Of Rain” in isolation. Lesh posted a video of the end result on his Facebook page.

The Terrapin Family Band consists of guitarists Ross James, Alex Koford and Grahame Lesh, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, vocalist Elliott Peck and drummer Nathan Graham. Nathan plays banjo in the video for the song Phil wrote with GD lyricist Robert Hunter for inclusion on the Dead’s 1970 studio album American Beauty.

Phil sings lead and plays bass throughout and cameras capture the 80-year-old musician recording both parts. “Weirdly kind of live from all over the place,” mentions a note accompanying the video that also adds, “Love & hope to our Terrapin community!” Watch the “Box Of Rain” video below:
