Phil Lesh Recreates Grateful Dead Show At Terrapin Crossroads

By Scott Bernstein Oct 3, 2014 7:30 am PDT

Last night Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh kicked off Dark Star Orchestra Week at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA by enlisting a batch of friends to help him recreate one of the most famous Dead shows of all time -August 27, 1972. Lesh and his sextet used the DSO format of performing each and every song from that classic show in the original order they were presented in Veneta, OR.

For last night’s performance, Phil was joined by Grahame Lesh (guitar, vocals), Stu Allen (guitar, vocals), Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), Ezra Lipp (drums) and Elliot Peck (vocals). Lesh even enlisted Craig MacArthur to deliver the on-stage announcements that were made at the original show, which was recently released as Sunshine Daydream.

Dark Star Orchestra plays their first of two shows at Terrapin tonight.

Here’s a rundown of what went down at Terrapin Crossroads last night:
