Phil Lesh & Friends Announce Halloween 2019 Run & Conclude Performances With Jorma Kaukonen At The Capitol Theatre

Phil Lesh & Friends finished a series of two concerts at The Capitol Theatre featuring special guest Jorma Kaukonen on Wednesday night. Additionally, the venue confirmed the Grateful Dead bassist will return for a run of Phil Lesh & Friends shows that spans Halloween through November 2.

Lesh’s band for this year’s Halloween run has yet to be revealed. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 14 at 12 p.m. ET via Ticketfly (October 31, November 1 and November 2).

Last night’s performance featured Phil and Jorma joined by guitarist Grahame Lesh, keyboardist Rob Barraco and drummer John Molo. Barraco led the band through “Dancing In The Street” to start before Phil fronted his beloved cover of Robbie Robertson’s “Broken Arrow.” It was then Jorma’s turn in the spotlight for a run of “Big Boss Man,” “Friend Of The Devil” and “Mr. Charlie.” Phil returned to the mic to sing “Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo” ahead of the “Franklin’s Tower” set closer.

Tuesday’s second set got off the ground with a “St. Stephen” that bled into “Mason’s Children.” Up next was “Dupree’s Diamond Blues” before a pair of Jorma repertoire classics: “I Am The Light Of This World” and “Good Shepard.” The quintet then presented a seamless sequence of “The Other One” into “Eyes Of The World” into “Sugar Magnolia.” The band went on to close the set with “Going Down The Road Feelin’ Bad” and “And We Bid You Goodnight.” For the encore, members of the group traded verses on The Band’s “The Weight.”
