Phil Lesh & Friends To Go With Hornsby-esque Lineup For 1991 Grateful Dead Tribute

Starting early last year Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California has been hosting a series of Phil Lesh & Friends performances honoring each year of the Grateful Dead’s touring career in celebration of the band’s 50th anniversary. The shows, each of which finds the bassist and his band re-creating a famed Grateful Dead performance from the year being honored, have continued into 2016 and the latest to be announced focuses on 1991.
1991 was the rare year in Grateful Dead history to feature two keyboardists at every show as Bruce Hornsby stepped up on a temporary basis while Vince Welnick became comfortable with the material. As such, Phil will utilize a two keyboardist lineup for the tribute to 1991 Grateful Dead that will be held July 21 at Terrapin Crossroads. Lesh will be joined by guitarists Stu Allen and Scott Law, keyboardists Scott Guberman and Dan Eisenberg as well as drummers Ezra Lipp and Alex Koford for a show featuring the same setlist as a famed 1991 Grateful Dead show.
Tickets for Phil Lesh & Friends’ tribute to 1991 Grateful Dead are up for sale via the venue’s online store as of press time. A webcast of tonight’s Phil Lesh & Friends show with the theme “darkness” is available for purchase as well. Joining Phil tonight will be Cass McCombs, Jackie Greene, Neal Casal, Adam MacDougall and Mark Levy.
