Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh shared the third installment in his Terrapin Clubhouse video series. The Phil Lesh & Friends lineup for The Clubhouse Sessions Episode 3 boasts Terrapin Crossroads veterans.

The Clubhouse Sessions Episodes 1 and 2 featured the Phil Lesh & Friends lineup of Daniel Donato, Holly Bowling, Nicki Bluhm, Grahame Lesh and John Molo. That ensemble performed at The Warfield in San Francisco last month.

The lineup for The Clubhouse Sessions Episode 3 includes Terrapin Crossroads mainstays guitarist Grahame Lesh, drummer John Molo, keyboardist Jason Crosby, vocalist Elliott Peck and guitarist Stu Allen.

The ensemble sans Peck kicked off Episode 3 with late 60s and early ‘70s Dead beginning with Workingman’s Dead (1970) cut, “High Time,” lead by Stu Allen. Phil & Friends then embarked on a stellar sequence of “Playing In The Band” with “New Potato Caboose” fit within.

Both songs contain psychedelic guitar riffs and were sung by Bob Weir in the Grateful Dead. Phil, however, composed “New Potato Caboose” — appearing on GD’s 1968 album Anthem of the Sun — with collaborator Bobby Petersen. The final Grateful Dead performance of “NPC” came on July 8, 1969, as per JerryBase.

For Clubhouse Sessions 3, Grahame handled lead vocals on “Playin’” while Phil sang his “New Potato Caboose.” Phil Lesh & Friends then moved on to late 70s Dead with “Crazy Fingers,” with Stu on lead vocals, before Elliott Peck joined the fun for session closer, “Estimated Prophet.”
