Pavement Works Up Weird ‘Stairway To Heaven’ Cover
Watch the band attempt the Led Zeppelin classic at Mosswood Meltdown 2026.

Pavement kicked off their 2026 Summer Tour with an appearance Friday at Mosswood Park in Oakland for the Mosswood Meltdown 2026 pre-party. The influential alternative rock band incorporated a wild take on Led Zeppelin’s classic song, “Stairway To Heaven.”
The peculiar performance occurred in the middle of Pavement’s set, following a run through “Harness Your Hopes.” Guitarist Stephen Malkmus struggled to find the lyrics to “Stairway To Heaven,” and eventually began improvising words on the spot.
“I wish I rehearsed these lyrics a little better,” Malkmus sang while making up new verses to the song.
