Paul Simon will embark on his first substantial tour since 2018. The 83-year-old singer-songwriter’s A Quiet Celebration Tour will hit many markets across North America between April 4 and August 3.

In 2018, Simon completed a farewell tour but signaled he was still open to the occasional concert appearance. While the Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer kept his word by playing sporadically since then — including at the Saturday Night Live 50th Anniversary special with Sabrina Carpenter, he revealed hearing loss experienced during the recording of his 2023 album, Seven Psalms, made playing live in concert difficult for Simon.

Having lost the ability to hear out of his left ear, Simon teamed with the Stanford Initiative to Cure Hearing Loss, as well as members of his production team, to collaborate on a stage setup that would allow Simon to perform live again. CBS recently profiled the process that rejuvenated Simon and propelled him to start touring again.

Simon will perform Seven Psalms, an acoustic album he mostly recorded himself that was presented as a single, seven-part composition, on the upcoming A Quiet Celebration Tour, alongside selections from his storied catalog. Backing Simon will be a band made up of Caleb Burhans (viola), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Gyan Riley (guitar), Mick Rossi (piano, keys), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Nancy Stagnitta (flute), Mark Stewart (guitar) and Eugene Friesen (cello). Steve Gadd and Matt Chamberlin will alternate drumming duties.
