Last night, Paul McCartney made the short trip from his home in the Hamptons to super producer Andrew Watt and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith‘s sold-out show at tiny Amagansett club Stephen Talkhouse. Macca fronted the band on Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” and led them into an impromptu rendition of “I Saw Her Standing There” from his time with The Beatles.

Paul McCartney revealed he’s working with Watt on a new project to the New York Times last December but hasn’t shared any additional information since. Andrew Watt’s impressive resume includes producing The Rolling StonesHackney Diamonds which featured Macca on the track “Bite My Head Off.”

Andrew Watt and Chad Smith’s band at Stephen Talkhouse included longtime Saturday Night Live bandleader G.E. Smith and a horn section. McCartney emerged for “Rockin’ In The Free World” and was joined on vocals by Watts’ girlfriend model Charlotte Lawrence.

The legendary musician had his arms folded as the producer soloed on guitar after the pair had a brief huddle. Macca called for the band to pay attention as he started singing “I Saw Her Standing There” and the ensemble followed along.

Paul McCartney literally dropped the mic before sauntering off stage. McCartney kicks off his 2024 World Tour on October 1 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Watch fan-shot video of his appearance with Watt, Smith & Co. below:
