Paul Kantner To Miss Shows Due To Suspected Heart Attack

“Hey everybody, Paul’s health took a bad turn this week. He’s in the hospital, stable and undergoing tests to find out exactly what’s going on but doctors suspect he had a heart attack. He is in the best possible care and we are sending him all of our best wishes, good thoughts and healing vibes. We’re continuing the tour without him, as most of the shows are sold out or close to it and we have to honor our contracts and our fans who bought tickets and put on the best show possible. We will dedicate every show to Paul until he is well enough to rejoin us onstage. Thank you for your continued support during this difficult time,” reads the note on Jefferson Starship’s Facebook page.
Jefferson Starship is currently in the middle of an extensive tour honoring the 50th anniversary of Jefferson Airplane. Both Kantner and current Starship multi-instrumentalist David Freiberg were members of Jefferson Airplane, the famed Bay Area band. The Starship continues its tour, sans Kantner, tonight in Londonderry, New Hampshire. Here’s hoping for a quick recovery for Paul Kantner, who is the only member to serve in every Jefferson Airplane and Jefferson Starship lineup.
