Oteil Burbridge & Fareed Haque Join The String Cheese Incident At Element Music Festival

This past weekend The String Cheese Incident headlined the 2017 Element Music Festival at Snug Lake Amphitheatre in Princeton, British Columbia. Artist-at-Large Oteil Burbridge sat-in on bass twice with SCI, while the group also collaborated with Garaj Mahal guitarist Fareed Haque.
Following their two sets on Friday, August 4, The String Cheese Incident delivered another two set headlining performance the next night. Saturday’s show saw the emergence of Burbridge and Haque during a second set rendition of John Coltrane’s “Impressions.”
Sunday’s first set began with the Hank Williams rarity “I Saw The Light” and also featured a bust out of SCI’s arrangement of “Suntan.” Oteil rejoined the band at the start of the encore, adding bass to “Don’t Let Go” (a staple of the Jerry Garcia Band repertoire penned by Jesse Stone in the 1950s). The Dead & Company bassist exited the stage as The String Cheese Incident capped their Element Music Festival appearance with a rendition of “Good Times Around The Bend.”
