Original ‘The Last Waltz’ Performers To Take Part In 40th Anniversary Celebration

On November 25, 1976 The Band ended a Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame worthy career with one of the most celebrated concerts in the history of the genre, The Last Waltz. With the concert’s 40th anniversary approaching fans can expect plenty of tributes and celebrations. One such event will take place in New York City this August featuring a pair of musicians who performed at the original concert.
New York City’s Damrosch Park near Lincoln Center will host “The Last Waltz 40th Anniversary Celebration” on Saturday, August 6. This free concert will find Levon Helm’s longtime band The Midnight Ramble Band joined by Dr. John, Lucinda Williams, Patty Griffin, Buddy Miller, Anderson East, Howard Johnson and other special guests under the musical direction of Larry Campbell. Both Dr. John and Howard Johnson performed at The Last Waltz in 1976.
