A video for a song off Gregg Allman’s final album Southern Blood has been shared today on what would have been the legendary musician’s 70th birthday. The newly posted clip features Allman’s cover of “Song For Adam” by Jackson Browne, who also appears on the recording.
Sessions were held with producer Don Was at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama prior to Allman’s passing in May. Posthumously issued in September, Southern Blood was recently nominated for two Grammy Awards, including Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Song for the album track “My Only True Friend.”
The video for “Song For Adam” stars Jamestown Revival’s Zach Chance, along with Yates Robertson, Zoe Graham and Johnny McPhail. Premiered by Rolling Stone, director Erica Silverman told the outlet:
We worked hard on this little video, shooting in multiple cities all over Texas. I grew up listening to the Allman Brothers, and couldn’t believe the opportunity. Gregg and his music represent so much to so many different people. I hope the video carries an ounce of his spirit. This is for you Gregg, I miss you, we all miss you. And congrats on that Grammy nomination! Some legends never die.

Was revealed Gregg chose to record the song because it reminded him of his late brother Duane Allman and that the final two verses weren’t sung because Gregg was overcome with emotion. Watch the video for “Song For Adam” below:
