9 New Albums Out Now From From The Rolling Stones, Jack White, Allison Russell & More

Rock ‘n’ roll legends The Rolling Stones issued a new album, Foreign Tongues, via Capitol Records. The eagerly-anticipated studio album follows less than three years behind the band’s Grammy-winning, chart-topping Hackney Diamonds LP. Core members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood recorded alongside supporting players Daryl Jones, Matt Clifford and Steve Jordan. The Rolling Stones reunited with Hackney Diamonds producer Andrew Watt for sessions held over a quick month at West London’s Metropolis Studios. Foreign Tongues includes a special appearance from late drummer Charlie Watts, culled from one of the last recording sessions before his death in 2021. An impressive array of all-star guests contributed to the album, namely Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, The Cure’s Robert Smith and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Mick Jagger looked back at the recording process, stating: “I love doing these recording sessions in London at Metropolis. It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues. We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion in the room from everyone.”

Keith Richards also weighed in: “The Foreign Tongues album has a continuity from Hackney Diamonds and it was great to be working in London again, and to have that London vibe around us. It was a month of concentrated punch. To me, it’s all about the enjoyment of it. I’m blessed to be able to do this and long may it last.”

“The atmosphere in the room was so creative, and the whole band was on top form throughout the whole process. Very often we nailed it on the first take. I hope everyone loves it,” added Ronnie Wood.

Jack White released his seventh studio album, Frozen Charlotte, through his Third Man Records label. The follow-up to 2024’s No Name includes 13 original songs. White produced Frozen Charlotte and recruited his live band to contribute to the album. The ensemble features keyboardist Bobby Emmett, bassist Dominic Davis and drummer Patrick Keeler.

Allison Russell shared her third solo album, In The Hour Of Chaos, through Fantasy Records. The Montreal-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter is joined by a special guests on all but one of the album’s 11 tracks. Contributors include Norah Jones, Brittney Spencer, Devon Gilfillian, Sara Watkins, Joy Oladokun, Kara Jackson, Denitia, Kashus Culpepper, Julie Williams, Ruby Amanfu, Kyshona and Ahya Simone. Russell’s daughter’s Explore! Pop Choir and Russell’s recent co-star in Hadestown on Broadway, Chibueze Ihuoma, were also part of the recording process. The below statement by Russell accompanies In The Hour Of Chaos:

“Rather than a ‘3rd solo record,’ this album is more like the mixtape to a musical yet to be written. I’ve cast it with some of the voices I find the most compelling & heart opening. The World is in crisis; We are in crisis. When the Macro is unbearable, the Micro is where we must begin to really dig in. In a time when we need community more than ever, too often we barricade our interior walls & drift further & further from each other. Even the ones we love the most. I believe that in order to Heal the World, Heal Ourselves— we must build each other back up at the mycelial level, eye to eye, heart to heart, soul to soul. I believe that we can. With this album, we want to take back some of the lost space between us.

“It was recorded over several sessions beginning in 2024, culminating in 2025 at Henson in LA & at Sound Emporium & Bellwether in Nashville. I am changed. I am charged up with the gifts of every artist involved in this sonic sojourn. Every artist I have ever listened to, watched, read, sung, played or shared the stage with. Every human who has ever joined us in real life & cast the creative circle with us, or who has engaged with the work remotely & found a connection.”

Atlanta rapper Future released his 10th studio album, The Real Me, via Freebandz/Epic Records. His first solo studio album since 2022’s I Never Liked You — following 2024’s collaborative projects We Don’t Trust You and We Still Don’t Trust You with Metro Boomin — the 22-track album was preceded by lead single “Radio.”

Washington, D.C.-raised singer-songwriter Kelela released her third studio album, new avatar, via Warp Records. The follow-up to 2023’s Raven was produced primarily by Oscar Scheller and Kelela, with A. K. Paul producing and appearing on “outta time.” features on “new life forms” and PinkPantheress on “the bridge.”

“This album finds solace in confronting,” Kelela said. “I don’t want the music to be a distraction from what’s really going on in the world; I want it to make sense in this crazy moment while helping people get in touch with the beauty and joy they’re also experiencing.”

Houndmouth issue their first album in five years, Lordy, via Dualtone Records. The new Houndmouth record was produced by Brad Cook and includes contributions from Cook’s brother Phil Cook, MJ Lenderman and Iron & Wine’s Sam Beam. Brad Cook also helmed Houndmouth’s 2021 LP Good For You, and was instrumental in encouraging primary songwriter Matt Myers as he experienced doubt about the songs he was writing.

“When I visited [Brad] in North Carolina for the first time, he walked out of his garage and gave me a big bear hug,” Myers recalled. “He told me he was happy for me, and he gave me a lot of confidence with my new songs … I would go to Brad’s studio, play a new song, and we’d do a one-take performance on the acoustic guitar. Then we’d get other people to come over and play on it, too. I told myself not to get lost in the mechanics or the minutia. If I had an idea, I just wanted to record it as quickly as I could. That was the primary objective: to let whatever’s gonna come out, come out.”

Experimental rock band Xiu Xiu released Eraserhead Xiu Xiu via Polyvinyl Records. Conceived in tribute to late filmaker David Lynch following his death earlier this year, the album accompanies a live concert and film and draws on field recordings, homemade instruments, organ, modular synths, vocals, flashlights, electrical interference and elements of musique concrète to interpret Lynch’s 1977 debut feature. The closing track, “In Heaven,” is a rendition of Peter Ivers’ original composition from the film’s soundtrack. The project follows the band’s 2016 album Plays the Music of Twin Peaks, made with Lynch’s blessing, which they retired from performing in 2018.

Mason Jennings released his 18th album, Dark Wings, today on Loosegroove Records. The Minneapolis-based singer-songwriter took a looser, more collaborative approach to the follow-up to 2025’s Magnifier than on many of his past albums. The 51-year-old musician worked hand-in-hand on Dark Wings with drummer Scott McPherson. The pair was joined in McPherson’s design workshop, which was transformed into a studio, by recording engineer Aaron Featherstone who tracked and mixed the sessions held between November 2024 and February 2026. McPherson called upon a rotating cast of musician from his wide creative circle to give the recordings a spontaneous, communal feel.

“Dark Wings was a new kind of approach for me. My drummer friend Scott McPherson, who has played with everybody, had a studio space where his company McPherson Goods made bags and clothes. It was a Willy Wonka-type scene with all sorts of vintage instruments, machinery, antiques, and folk art,” Jennings recalled.

“Scott decided it would be fun to try something different, so he had his engineer friend Aaron Featherstone bring in his studio gear, turning the shop into a temporary recording studio. The vibe was cool. Once we started tracking, I was stoked on Scott’s production and Aaron’s engineering, so I kept writing without ever having a clear intention for what we were creating. Scott is friends with tons of musicians, and he invited a great cast of characters to come play on the songs. My favorite tracks from these sessions ultimately became this album.”

Animal Collective’s Panda Bear (Noah Lennox) and producer/musician Sonic Boom (Pete Kember) teamed back up for their second collaborative album, A ? of When, arriving today via Domino. A ? of When follows Panda Bear and Sonic Boom’s 2022 debut collab Reset. Guests on the record include Mexico City’s Mariachi 2000 de Cutberto-Pérez a group they worked with on a remix of Reset along with harpist Mary Lattimore, British multi-instrumentalist Daniel O’Sullivan and “Steel Witch” Zena Kay on pedal steel guitar.

Panda Bear and Sonic Boom shared a joint statement detailing A ? of When:
