9 New Albums Out Today From King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Phoebe Bridgers, Lindsay Lou + More

Aussie psych-rockers King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released their 28th studio album, Alien Metal, via p(doom) Records. The prolific outfit recorded Alien Metal on their modular synth setup named Nathan. KGLW has experimented with electronic sounds previously, beginning in earnest on their 2021 album Butterfly 3000 before the band dove further in on 2023’s The Silver Cord. Gizz also delivered their landmark 2025 Fall European Tour playing “rave shows” on Nathan for the full run.

“We’ve never scrapped so much material as we have for this album,” guitarist Stu Mackenzie noted. “Entire albums, entire universes that were formulated, created, recorded, deleted and started again.”

“Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places,” self-proclaimed King Gizz “techno head” and guitarist Joey Walker added. “And it feels unique – it feels like us, still.”

Phoebe Bridgers’ eagerly awaited third album, Lost Weekend, arrived today via Dead Oceans. The 16-track set marks Bridgers’ first solo LP since Punisher in 2020. Bridgers spent much of 2023 on the road with boygenius, her supergroup with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus. The trio toured behind their debut full-length album, the record, which earned thm multiple Grammys.

A slew of guests joined Lindsay Lou on her new album, Bluegrass Women. The record features a collection of songs written by female songwriters, performed by Lou alongside the likes of Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Laurie Lewis, and Aoife O’Donovan and Sarah Jarosz of I’m With Her, among others. Bluegrass Women was co-produced by Lou and Shani Gandhi. The album follows Lou’s 2023 LP, Queen of Time.

“Just like having pickers like Molly Tuttle and Sierra Hull out there showing little girls that there is a place for them now in bluegrass, I want to show where there always has been,” Lou said of the album’s origins. “Some of these songs I sang for many years before realizing they were penned by a wife/mother/female artist. As a woman, it’s easy to feel like an outsider, or like you don’t belong, in a genre where there is a noticeable lack of representation of women among the forebears. To know that women’s voices made it into the traditional songs feels like a quiet win, and I want to draw more attention to it.”

Jungle issued a new studio album, Sunshine, today via AWAL. Jungle is made up of co-founding producers Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland, who welcomed vocalist and producer Lydia Kitto to the group as a full-time member in 2023. The trio’s last album was 2023’s Volcano.

Maggie Rose shared her album, Half Moon, today through One Riot Records. Co-produced by Lawrence Rothman and Daniel Tashian, Half Moon also saw Rose working closely with Rothman and Tashian in the songwriting process. The 10-song LP follows Rose’s Grammy-nominated 2025 single “Poison In My Well” and her Grammy-nominated 2024 album, No One Gets Out Alive.

“We’d leave each session with these beautiful, fully conceived demos, and after a few songs it became apparent that something special was happening,” Rose said. “The sound is orchestral and wide-ranging because I was trying to capture and portray the duality within the album. Like the moon, the whole of us is always there but revealed differently depending on the light.”

Bronwyn released her new solo album, Rattlin’ Bones. Two-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year and former Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway member, Bronwyn Keith-Hynes enters a new era under the mononym Bronwyn with Rattlin’ Bones. Co-produced by Bronwyn and Brent Truitt at Truitt’s Nashville studio and at the Tractor Shed in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Rattlin’ Bones features dobroist Jerry Douglas, guitarists Bryan Sutton and Frank Rische, mandolinist Harry Clark, bassists Dennis Crouch and Jeff Picker, vocalist Darrell Scott, banjoist Wes Corbett and Bronwyn’s former Golden Highway bandmate Dominick Leslie. Contributions also came from her current touring band members, mandolinist Tristan Scroggins, banjoist Frank Evans and bassist Larry Cook.

“My intention was to create a collection of songs that I would want to play live every night with my band,” Bronwyn said. “What turns me on? What would I want to listen to? And I wanted to make a record that you’d want to turn up so loud, it’d rattle your bones.”

Global pop group KATSEYE — Manon, Sophia, Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae — released their third EP, WILD, via HYBE and Geffen Records. WILD marks KATSEYE’s third EP and follows the group’s 2025 EP Beautiful Chaos. The group worked on WILD with producers dwilly, “Hitman” Bang, FRANTS, Blake Slatkin and Omer Fedi. The EP was previewed by the hit singles “Pinky Up” and the Ed Sheeran-co-write, “ANIMAL.”

Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer L’Rain (Taja Cheek) released her fourth studio album, fata morgana, via Mexican Summer. Arranged and produced by Cheek, Ben Chapoteau-Katz and Andrew Lappin, with Lappin also engineering, mixing and executive producing, the album was recorded at Gary’s Electric Studio in Brooklyn and Welterweight Sound Studio in Marlboro, New York, mastered by Joe LaPorta at Sterling Sound and sequenced by Yuka Honda. The concluding installment of a quadrilogy that began with her 2017 self-titled debut and continued through 2021’s Fatigue and 2023’s I Killed Your Dog, the album was led by single “soulless cycle.”

Portland singer-songwriter Laura Veirs released her 14th solo album, Temple Songs, via Raven Marching Band Records. Written, produced, recorded, arranged and performed entirely by Veirs over three months in fall 2025 at her backyard “Temple of Bloom” studio, the follow-up to 2022’s Found Light features saxophone from Filthy Lucre as its sole outside contribution, and was mixed by Philip Weinrobe (Adrienne Lenker) at Sugar Mountain and mastered by Josh Bonati at Bonati Mastering in New York.

“I needed to make this to connect more deeply with my taste, aesthetics, and confidence,” Veirs said. “I wanted to make something that sounds as organic and human as possible.”
