12 New Albums Out Now From The Strokes, Charli XCX, The Revivalists & More

New York rock band The Strokes released their seventh studio album, Reality Awaits, via Cult Records/RCA Records. Produced by Rick Rubin, the follow-up to 2020’s The New Abnormal was recorded in Costa Rica.

British singer-songwriter Charli XCX released her seventh studio album, Music, Fashion, Film, via Atlantic Records. The follow-up to 2024’s Brat was produced and co-written with longtime collaborators A.G. Cook and Finn Keane, with film director David Cronenberg appearing on closing track “No One Lasts Forever.” The album was preceded by singles “Rock Music,” “SS26,” “Wink Wink” and “Camera.”

“I’ve never thought about genre in a binary way,” Charli XCX told Rolling Stone. “I find that to be a very old-school notion. I don’t even know what the genre is. It’s just me and A.G. Cook and Finn Keane, doing our thing.”

New Orleans-based band The Revivalists issued Get It Honest, their first new full-length studio album in three years. Producer Rich Costey gathered with The Revivalists at Guilford Sound in Vermont to work on what turned out to be a 12-track record. The studio was the same idyllic location where Costey and the octet previously collaborated on 2023’s Pour It Out Into The Night. After dipping their toes into various soundscapes on their previous album, Get It Honest is said in press materials to evince “a blessed cohesion, as if The Revivalists have finally found how they truly want to sound, at least for right now.” The Revivalists drew upon their life experience to craft emotionally resonant songs for their sixth studio album. Core themes include fatherhood-driven maturity (seven of eight members are now dads), looking forward and restraint as artistic growth.

The band isn’t letting the past define their future. “To me, this album is about understanding this point and learning to work with it like a potter works the clay,” explained The Revivalists frontman David Shaw. “Our flaws and imperfections are what ultimately make us human and beautiful.”

Punch Brothers released their seventh album, The Unsung Adventures Of Punch Brothers, via Nonesuch Records. The 11-track, self-produced effort marks the group’s first all-instrumental album and first to follow the 2023 addition of fiddler Brittany Haas to the band. Punch Brothers — Haas, mandolinist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert and banjoist Noam Pikelny — recorded the album at the idyllic Guilford Sound Studio in Vermont last fall and winter. Thile described The Unsung Adventures in a press release, stating:

“This music is the result of what feels to me like our deepest but also most joyful exploration of the American string band in the twenty years we’ve been making music together. Something about the dichotomy of all the water under the bridge plus a new, brilliant teammate in Brittany. We all felt like kids in a candy store … so many possibilities and so much energy with which to pursue them, except with the kind of collective discipline and clarity of intent that only decades of collaboration affords.”

Marco Benevento shared a new album, Glera, via Big Crown Records, marking the keyboardist’s debut LP on the label. Earlier this year, Benevento released his premiere single on Big Crown, “Frizzante,” alongside “Turnadot,” both bound for Glera. The latter features Italian singer Marianne Mirage. Additional vocalists on Glera include Dream Crease, Chiara Civello and Molly Lewis. Leon Michels, Hether, Dave Guy, Homer Steinweiss, Elizabeth Steiner, Lee Falco, 13th Ward Social Club and Nick Movshon also contributed to the record. Ian Sweet — the project of Los Angeles-based musician Jilian Medford — released a new album, Shiverstruck, om July 24 via Polyvinyl. Medford wrote what became the songs on Shiverstruck while living in New York City. The Los Angeles native recorded the 10-track LP at Maze Studios in Atlanta, where she worked with producer Ben H. Allen. The pair was joined by drummer Harold Brown and engineer Ben Etter.

“It was the hardest I’ve worked and ruminated on lyrics,” Medford revealed. “The writing was the heart of everything and had to feel really grounded. I put in crazy amounts of time and energy to make them feel like the truest reflection of who I am and where I’m at in my life right now.”

When the pandemic forced their main projects off the road in 2020 and 2021, drummer Adam Deitch and guitarist Adam Smirnoff of Lettuce gathered with The Motet bassist Garrett Sayers and keyboardist Joey Porter to work on new music together. The four musicians wound up recording an album entitled Stealth under the name MTN Lion and today released it via Golden Wolf Records. All four musicians were based in Denver and found themselves with a lot of time on their hands.

“There wasn’t any reason we had to do it,” Porter said. “We just wanted to. We like playing with each other. We were all in the same spot. There was nothing happening, so we were like, let’s play some music that we love. That’s what art should be — for nothing except the art.”

Canadian singer-songwriter Shania Twain released her seventh studio album, Little Miss Twain, via Republic Nashville. Produced by Zach Dawes, the follow-up to 2023’s Queen of Me features Tanya Tucker on the title track, Josh Homme of Queens of the Stone Age on “Faded Blue Jeans” and The War And Treaty on “Take It to the River,” with lead single “Dirty Rosie” preceding the release.

“A lot of Little Miss Twain is reflective of my teens, my roots as well as the energy of the rock and R&B I loved so much, but still with that Western twang,” Twain said. “Where I’m from you don’t go anywhere on a horse — you go on a snowmobile. I was dreaming about the Western lifestyle and I was living in a very different world than where I ended up.”

Singer-songwriter WILLOW released her ninth studio album, The Thread, via Three Six Zero. Her second album of 2026 following February’s surprise release petal rock black, the record was produced by longtime collaborator Chris Greatti.

Two-time Grammy-winning South African singer Tyla released her sophomore studio album, A*POP, via FAX/Epic Records. The follow-up to her 2024 self-titled debut was produced by Believve, Ian Kirkpatrick, P2J, Ari PenSmith, Sammy Soso and Mocha Bands, and features Zara Larsson on “She Did It Again.”

“I’ve been through stuff. I feel like a woman. I’m 24. I feel so different to how I felt during the first album. Just excited to see how different it is — like, what’s this Tyla now?” Tyla told Rolling Stone.

Maryland rapper Rico Nasty released her fourth studio album, RX. Entirely produced by Kenneth Blume (formerly Kenny Beats), the follow-up to 2023’s LETHAL reunites the pair for the first time since their 2019 Anger Management mixtape, with Dylan Brady of 100 Gecs contributing production on “Kiss N Make Up.”

“I missed someone that was honest with me,” Rico Nasty said of reuniting with Blume. “And I missed someone who knew me back then, before I had any success. I felt like if I’m going to get back to doing me, I should go back to someone who can be real with me, somebody who’s not too serious or draining.”

Australian singer-songwriter Alex Cameron released his fifth studio album, Late to Set. Produced by Mark Perkins, Zach Dawes and Maxim Ludwig, among others, the nine-track album was led by single “Red Hook Rain.”
