Zac Brown Band & Brothers Osborne Play Allman Brothers Medley In Charleston

Zac Brown Band brought out tour openers Brothers Osborne for an Allman Brothers medley on Thursday in Charleston, South Carolina. The musicians paired “One Way Out,” an early 1960s blues song popularized by , with the group’s original “Whipping Post” during ZBB’s first set at Credit One Stadium.

The Allman Brothers Band recorded its celebrated take on “One Way Out” at the final Fillmore East concert on June 27, 1971. Released the following year on Eat a Peach, the rendition became a longtime live staple for the group.

T.J. Osborne and Zac Brown shared lead vocals on “One Way Out” as John Osborne, Zac Brown Band fiddler Jimmy De Martini and guitarist Coy Bowles traded licks. The ensemble then moved into the final sections of “Whipping Post,” with Bowles handling the chorus to close the medley.

Brown also revisited James Taylor's fitting “Carolina In My Mind” during an acoustic portion of the concert. Zac Brown Band last performed the song on October 17, 2019.

South Carolina-bred Mark Bryan of emerged for Zac Brown Band’s debut cover of his band’s “Only Wanna Be With You” later in the acoustic interlude. Bryan sang lead on the first half before Brown took over vocal duties for the remainder of the song.
