Nels Cline Of Wilco Guests With Phil Lesh & Friends At Capitol Theatre

In yet another sign that Jerry Garcia is impossible to replace, Phil Lesh & Friends’ Saturday night lineup at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York featured four different guitarists. ALO’s Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Scott Law, John Kadlecik and Nels Cline of Wilco all shared the stage with the Grateful Dead bassist, Dark Star Orchestra keyboardist Rob Barraco and drummer Joe Russo for the second of ten shows spread out over five consecutive weekends at the historic venue.

The four-guitar army version of Phil Lesh & Friends mostly focused on classics from the Grateful Dead repertoire with a few exceptions. Law led the group through a cover of The Rolling Stones’ “Happy,” while Lebo fronted the ensemble on ALO’s “I Wanna Feel It.” The evening came to a close with a full “Help”/”Slip”/”Franklin’s” sequence as the encore.
