Neil Young Plans To Perform Free Concert In Ukraine

Neil Young is redefining the meaning of “Rockin’ in the Free World” by offering a free concert for his Ukrainian fans during his upcoming European tour.

The Canadian music icon shared the news on his Neil Young Archives website, revealing that he and his band, the Chrome Hearts, will kick off the Love Earth Tour in Ukraine with a complimentary performance. “Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts will open the upcoming Love Earth Tour of Europe in UKRAINE with a Free Concert for all!” he proclaimed, adding that plans are still being finalized and details will be announced soon on NYA.

Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022 and the two countries have been at war ever since. Young’s announcement comes a few days after Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in a heated meeting on Friday with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. European leaders have reaffirmed their support for Zelenskyy and the people of Ukraine.

Neil Young recently published a post on NYA entitled “Leader Of The Free World No More” taking aim at Trump. “Under 47’s leadership, the US has lost its standing,” wrote Young. “Loyalists will never be stronger than Patriots, and Patriots are in the majority here in the USA. Our Patriots will take to the streets to peacefully demonstrate. There will be a moment of truth in our country and we will show the world who we really are. The USA will again be the leader of the Free World.”

The Love Earth Tour is currently slated to begin on June 18 with a concert in Rattvik, Sweden. Young’s Chrome Hearts band features features guitarist Micah Nelson, drummer Anthony LoGerfo, organist Spooner Oldham and bassist Corey McCormick. Scroll below for dates.
