Neil Young & Stephen Stills Reunite In Hollywood

One of the most explosive dual guitar partnerships in rock history was on display last night when Neil Young and Stephen Stills performed together for the first time in nearly two years at an autism benefit concert in Hollywood. The legendary longtime bandmates fronted a house band that included some of Stills’ children for a nine-song set at the Light Up The Blues Benefit.

Young and Stills’ performance took place close to where they helped form Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame act Buffalo Springfield after surreptitiously crossing paths on Sunset Boulevard in 1966. The pair opened the nine-song set with the title track off 1976’s The Stills-Young Band’s Long May You Run and continued on with “Human Highway” and “I Don’t Know.” Next Young, Stills and the house band performed two of Stephen’s newest songs -“Virtual Here & Now” and “Don’t Want Lies.” Stills and Young then led the group on the Buffalo Springfield hits “For What It’s Worth,” “Bluebird” and “Mr. Soul.” The set came to a close with a version of Young’s “Rockin’ In The Free World” that featured many of the evening’s other performers including Steve Earle, Shawn Colvin and MC Jack Black.
