Neil Young & Promise Of The Real To Play WayHome Festival

On Thursday night rock legend Neil Young played a surprise show in San Luis Obispo, California in which he was backed by Lukas Nelson & Promise Of The Real. It had been previously announced Promise Of The Real would back Young on a new album, but clearly the collaboration will also take place in the live setting as today organizers of the new WayHome Music & Arts festival have announced Neil Young & Promise Of The Real will headline the inaugural event.

The inaugural WayHome will take place July 24 -26 at Burl’s Creek Event Grounds, 10 minutes north of Barrie, Ontario, in Canada. Sam Smith, Kendrick Lamar, alt-J, Modest Mouse and Hozier join Young & Promise Of The Real a top the WayHome lineup. WayHome organizers announced more lineup additions this afternoon including Brandon Flowers, Theophilus London, Manchester Orchestra, The Lone Bellow, Django Django, The Growlers, Rhiannon Giddens, Dwyane Gretzky, Tobias Jesso Jr, Chad VanGaalen, Broncho, Slow Magic, Highs, Brave Shores, Kevin Garrett, Weaves, Ascot Royals, The Beaches, Tomi Swick, Zorch, Amos the Transparent, Teen Violence, The Huaraches and Cross Dog. Neil Young & Promise Of The Real finds the iconic guitarist backed by Lukas and Micah Nelson on electric guitars and vocals, Corey McCormick on bass and vocals as well as Anthony Logerfo on drums. Thursday’s show featured the debut of ten Neil Young originals as well as a handful of classics including Young’s first “Walk On” since 2000.
