On Thursday night, Neil Young and Promise of The Real began the second leg of their Rebel Content Tour in support of this year’s The Monsanto Years LP. Neil and the band, which features two of Willie Nelson’s sons, began the tour at the Adams Center in Missoula, Montana.

Young worked just three tunes off The Monsanto Years into a career-spanning 23-song performance. The format was the same as this summer’s first leg as Neil started the show with a handful of solo performances before the band joined him for the bulk of the main set and the encore.Neil switched between guitar, piano and organ during the solo songs that began the main set.

Towards the middle of the set, Neil Young & Promise Of The Real offered their first- ever covers of Kurt Weill’s “September Song” and Willie Nelson’s “Precious Memories.” Lukas Nelson handled vocals on his father’s song. Other tour debuts were “Western Hero,” “I Won’t Quit” and “Southern Man,” though the first two were performed at the band’s one-off Farm Aid 30 set. “Rockin’ In The Free World” served as the evening’s encore.

The band now heads to the Spokane Arena in Spokane tonight.
