Neil Young Announces New Crazy Horse Album ‘Colorado’
Neil Young & Crazy Horse will release the 10-track studio album Colorado in October. Young revealed the LP’s first single, “Rainbow Of Colors,” is “coming out this month” via a note posted to NeilYoungArchives.com.
Young, multi-instrumentalist Nils Lofgren, bassist Billy Talbot and drummer Ralph Molina recorded Colorado with Neil’s co-producer, John Hanlon, in Telluride this past spring. “Billy, Ralphie, Nils and I are very happy to bring this song ‘Rainbow Of Colors’ to you in all its ragged glory, as my original producer and life-long friend, the late David Briggs once said,” Young wrote on NYA. “10 new songs ranging from around 3 minutes to over 13 minutes, will be coming your way. We hope you love this new album as much as we do.”
The note from Neil also mentions a film documenting the making of the album, Mountaintop Sessions, will be released at 100+ theaters around the world the week in October Colorado drops. “It is a wild one folks, no holds barred. You will see the whole process just as it went down! Worts and all!,” Young wrote of Mountaintop Sessions. “I don’t think a film about this subject with the openness and intensity we have captured has ever been seen.”
Colorado will be issued via Reprise on CD, double Vinyl and through streaming services. The vinyl will feature three sides plus a 7″ exclusive two-sided single that won’t be included on the album. Neil previously shared an image of the first side of the vinyl displaying “She Showed Me Love” runs 13:36:
A tracklist that appears on NYA lists eight songs Young has debuted live recently along with two songs thought to be previously unheard. Neil mentioned earlier this month a tour with Crazy Horse will have to wait until 2020 while he focuses on film projects.
