Neil Young Busts Out Song After Nearly 40 Years In Seattle
By Andy Kahn Oct 5, 2015 • 7:45 am PDT
On Sunday night Neil Young and Promise of The Real brought the Rebel Content Tour to the WaMu Theater in Seattle. The biggest surprise of the evening came early when Young dusted off a song from his 1968 debut solo album for the first time since 1976.
Young and his latest band continue to dig deep into Neil’s back catalog and last night they came out with “Here We Are In The Years.” The song from the Canadian rocker’s debut had been last performed on November 24, 1976. Sunday’s version was just the 15th time ever Neil has played “Here We Are In The Years.”
The show also featured a 24-minute “Down By The River,” another take on the song debuted at Farm Aid 30 tentatively titled “I Won’t Quit” and a bevy of other Neil Young classics. Last night’s gig followed a Saturday night show in Spokane that included tour debuts of “Comes A Time,” “Alabama” and “Powderfinger.” The tour continues tonight at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
