New Zealand-born singer-songwriter Neil Finn has announced a livestream of the recording of his upcoming new album Out Of Silence. The single recording session will take place on Friday, August 25 and the album will be mixed, mastered and released on the following Friday, September 1.
The former Split Enz member and Crowded House frontman has been involved in live streaming dating back to 2003. Finn issued the following statement regarding the livestreaming schedule for the making of Out Of Silence:
Every Friday in August at 7 p.m. NZT / 5 p.m. AEST, I will be performing on a live stream from my studio in Auckland. During these Friday sessions you will be witness to a series of musical happenings featuring friends, family, fellow songwriters and singers playing tunes both old and brand new. You can follow the progress of new song arrangements as we build towards the last stream on August 25. This final performance will be the actual recording of my new solo album.
Finn further explained the format in a video clip he posted in which he revealed “serious musicians” will be involved in the recording of the album’s 11 tracks. Watch the clip here:
Finn last released Dizzy Heights, his third solo album, in 2014. The livestreams will be presented on the official Neil Finn Facebook page.
