Watch Neighbor Enlist Eric Krasno For Supremely Funky Grant Green Cover At Camp Deep End

Neighbor brought out guitarist Eric Krasno at Camp Deep End to let the fretboard fireworks fly on a cover of Grant Green’s 1970 single “Ain’t It Funky Now” and original “Love Like Stone.” The collaboration occurred at the end of Neighbor’s second of two sets at the three-day festival held at scenic Camp Navarro in Navarro, California.

This past weekend marked Neighbor’s third annual visit to Camp Navarro. The Boston-based quartet made their Camp Deep End debut in 2022 and returned August 4 – 6, 2023 to host and headline the Under The Moon festival.

Eric Krasno’s guest appearance with Neighbor came one day before he closed out the main stage action at Camp Deep End 8 with his King Canyon band. Neighbor played a late-night set at the Lodge on Friday and then took the main stage ahead of Hot Buttered Rum on Saturday.

Neighbor treated fans to a bevy of live staple originals on Saturday evening including “Carmelita,” “Cuba Street,” “You Could Be Mine,” “Don’t You Cry” and “Terror For Free.” A take on Jerry Garcia’s “Gomorrah” was played in the middle of the frame.

Kraz emerged for Neighbor’s first “Ain’t It Funky Now” since November 11, 2023 and sixth overall cover of the song. The Soulive guitarist let it rip as unleashed a powerful solo during the instrumental. Neighbor guitarist Lyle Brewer then took a fierce solo of his own before the axemen traded licks to bring the cover to a close.

Eric Krasno stuck around to add to the Neighbor original “Love Like Stone” to end the four-piece’s time at Camp Navarro. Lyle Brewer and bandmate keyboardist Richard James joined headliners ALO for a cover of The Doobie Brothers’ “Long Train Runnin'” later in the night.
