The National Covers Talking Heads’ ‘Heaven’ In London

By Andy Kahn Sep 27, 2017 7:43 am PDT

The National performed last night at London’s Eventim Apollo in support of their recently issued studio album Sleep Well Beast. Tuesday’s encore began with the band covering a classic Talking Heads song.

The National’s main set last night opened with the Sleep Well Beast opening track “Nobody Else Will Be There” and featured all but one of the songs on the 12-track LP. The show saw the tour debuts of “Graceless” off 2013’s Trouble Will Find Me and “About Today” off 2004’s Cherry Tree.

Frontman Matt Berninger fronted the band on a cover of “Heaven” by Talking Heads to kick off Tuesday’s encore. Guests This Is The Kit and Lisa Hannigan joined a subsequent take on “Born To Beg,” while “Terrible Love” closed out the concert.
