Soul Artist Nao Yoshioka Heralds New Album With ‘Pieces Of Me’ Single Featuring Mỹ Anh

Japanese soul artist Nao Yoshioka shared a new single, “Pieces Of Me,” featuring Vietnamese R&B singer Mỹ Anh. The new track heralds Yoshioka’s newly announced album, self, set for release on July 17 via Sweet Soul Records.

self is a guest-filled effort dubbed a “World Soul Collective,” featuring contributions from Bilal, Jamila Woods, Khari Mateen, Keyon Harrold, Peter CottonTale, Devin Morrison, Raphael Devante, MXXWLL, Sam Wills, Bnnyhunna, Misha and Chien Chien Lu.

“This album is the sound of me finally facing and accepting every part of myself—the hopeful side that chased the light and the hidden side that felt weak or ‘never enough,'” Nao stated. “It is about turning that honesty and gratitude toward the people who carried me here into music, without holding anything back.”

Yoshioka previously previewed self with the tracks “Shadow” featuring Bilal, “You Got to Feel It” with saxophonist Braxton Cook and “In The Rain.” Along with the album announcement, Nao shares “Pieces Of Me” featuring Mỹ Anh and produced by Shuko.

“When Mỹ Anh and I first met, we talked about what kind of emotions we could share as we wanted the song to come naturally from what we had in common,” Yoshioka said. “I was born and raised in Japan, but singing R&B and soul in English often left me feeling uncertain about where I belonged. Mỹ Anh shared similar feelings as she builds her career globally from Vietnam and we immediately connected on that level.”
