My Morning Jacket Debuts ‘Spinning My Wheels’ For ‘Fallon’

My Morning Jacket served as the musical guest on Wednesday’s episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The five members of the band contributed to the first-ever public performance of “Spinning My Wheels,” the opening track from their recently released The Waterfall II studio album.
The Waterfall II was recorded during the same sessions in Stinson Beach, California that yielded 2015’s The Waterfall. MMJ frontman Jim James was taking a walk during a period of self-quarantining when “Spinning My Wheels” came up on shuffle. He was struck by the song and decided to revisit the material the band recorded in Stinson Beach, which led to the release of The Waterfall II last Friday.

Each member of My Morning Jacket recorded their parts for Spinning My Wheels in front of a green screen for the video premiered on Fallon. While it’s unclear if the band was actually in the same room, they most certainly share the same screen at points of the clip.
