One Big ‘Happy Holiday!’: My Morning Jacket Shares ‘Feelin Sorry’ Single Off New Holiday Album

My Morning Jacket will release an album celebrating the holidays, aptly titled Happy Holiday!, through ATO Records on November 24. The group heralded the upcoming record by sharing its lead single, a new original entitled “Feelin Sorry.”

The nine-track Happy Holiday! features several classics of the season, including “Christmas Must Be Tonight,” “Please Come Home For Christmas,” “Oh My Christmas Tree” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas.” MMJ also tapped The Head and the Heart for collaborative takes on “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “When The Bells Start Ringing.”

My Morning Jacket rounded out the album by recording “snowy” versions of their original songs, “Wonderful” and “Welcome Home.” The band previously released a holiday EP, My Morning Jacket Does Xmas Fiasco Style, which came out in 2000.

Frontman Jim James shared the below message regarding “Feeling Sorry”:

“I know that for so many of us the holidays can be quite a complex and emotional time. I wrote this tune while feeling out of sorts a few years back and was just reflecting on the fact that if I ever wanted things to change I had to face myself and try to find some inner peace before I could ever expect to feel peaceful out in the world. I hope this song brings some joy to your world this holiday season or any old time!”

My Morning Jacket’s Fall Tour 2023 began last night in Toronto at Massey Hall. The tour will see the band performing several special It Still Moves 20th-anniversary shows to celebrate their landmark album.
