It seemed like business as usual when Jim James & Co. began the evening with the first track off The Waterfall -“Believe (Nobody Knows)” -which has opened most shows this tour. However the band quickly moved on to more rare material such as “The Dark” and “Heartbreakin Man” off The Tennessee Fire. The evening’s big bust out was “Rollin Back” off It Still Moves which was played last night for the first time since September 12, 2012. Z track “Knot Comes Loose” continues its comeback as last night’s rendition was the third of the year after it went unplayed since September 8, 2012. Another bust out came in the form of obscurity “Sooner,” which was last played December 27, 2012 at the Capitol Theatre.
My Morning Jacket even dipped into the New Basement Tapes repertoire for “Nothing To It” as part of the Chicago opener. The next tour debut of the evening came with the run’s first “Slow Slow Tune” and later MMJ even threw in a cover of Bob Marley’s “Stir It Up” for good measure. The group’s main set came to a close with a sequence of “Outta My System,” “Golden,” “Only Memories Remain,” “Off The Record” and “I’m Amazed.” A four-song encore featured “Circuital,” “The Way That He Sings,” “Phone Went West” and “Run Thru.” “Run Thru” was a tour debut having last been performed in Mexico during One Big Holiday. MMJ’s three-night stand in Chicago continues tonight.

My Morning Jacket’s Bo Koster threw out the first pitch before a Chicago White Sox game preceding the band’s visit to the Chicago Theatre as pointed out by Pitchfork. Watch the band discuss baseball and more including word of how Bo got his name:
