Comedian Marc Maron’s widely successful WTF Podcast has featured a number of talented musicians as special guests on the bi-weekly interview program. A capable guitarist in his own right, Maron often ends his episodes by showing off his skills with six strings. This edition of Saturday Stream compiles recordings made by musicians who have spoken to Maron over the course of the long running podcast.
Recently Maron posted a chat held with rock icon Bruce Springsteen and a discussion with jam scene pilar Derek Trucks. Those are just two of the many musicians who have met with Marc in his garage at the famed Cat Ranch in California or in other locations around the globe.
Along with Springsteen, WTF continues to rack up legendary musical guests such as Neil Young, Keith Richards, Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, Lemmy, David Crosby, Herb Alpert, John Prine, Booker T. Jones, Elvis Costello, Nick Lowe, John Cale, John Fogerty, Wayne Kramer, Billy Gibbons and others. WTF guests have included Jack White, John Popper of Blues Traveler, Ira Kaplan of Yo La Tengo, Todd Snider, Wayne Coyne of The Flaming Lips, Rosanne Cash, Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney, Dweezil Zappa and rising country stars Sturgill Simpson and Margo Price.
The playlist includes a number of tracks featuring collaborations between WTF guests such as David Byrne with St. Vincent, Peaches with Kim Gordon, Josh Homme with Iggy Pop, Dinosaur Jr. members Lou Barlow and J Mascis and Drive-By Truckers’ Patterson Hood and former band mate Jason Isbell.
Thom Yorke, Melissa Etheridge, Chris Cornell, Fiona Apple, Stephen Malkmus, Father John Misty, Huey Lewis, Dave Grohl, James Mercer, Lucinda Williams, Tenacious D and Nick Cave are just a few of the musicians who (or their bands) are featured in the 90 track playlist below.
