Chicago-based jam quartet Mungion will issue their sophomore studio album Ferris Wheel’s Day Off on October 5. The band shared the lead album and track from the LP, “One Night Stan.”
Guitarist/vocalist Justin Reckamp, bassist/vocalist Sean Carolan, keyboardist/vocalist Joe Re and drummer/vocalist Matt Kellen recorded the 10-track follow-up to 2016’s Scary Blankets over the course of a year at various home studio and apartment setups. The quartet recruited 10 musical friends to collaborate on Ferris Wheel’s Day Off including a horn section.
“We have spent the last 15 months grinding away in different cities, studios, and apartments are very proud of the way the whole thing turned out,” said Recamp of the album in a press release. “There’s a little something for everybody here – some tracks are funky, others heavy. Often times, multiple genres are represented inside one tune; that’s the essence of what we do, and the records’ diversity is something we are very proud of.”
“The record was produced by our good friend, Ben Factor,” Reckamp added. “He was present throughout the entire process, giving feedback and advice on the music, takes and arrangements. Listen closely and you may even hear him on some vocal harmonies back there in the mix!”
