Mumford & Sons brought their tour supporting their upcoming first album since 2018, Rushmere, to Los Angeles last night for a concert at the intimate Hollywood Palladium. Dawes, Madison Cunningham and Ed Helms were brought out to perform with the band at various points of the show.
The British trio — Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane and Ben Lovett — placed five songs from Rushmere into Thursday’s setlist. The song “Caroline,” from the new album due on March 28, was performed with Dawes guitarist Taylor Goldsmith and his brother, Griffin Goldsmith assisting touring drummer Brad Barr by playing tambourine. Both Goldsmiths added backing vocals as well.
Comedian/musician Ed Helms was next to arrive on the Hollywood Palladium stage. Helms played banjo on the Sigh No More track, “Awake My Soul.”
The encore began with Madison Cunningham playing guitar and helping to sing the Rushmere song “Blood On The Page.” Cunningham stuck around as the members of Dawes returned to assist a performance of The Basement Tapes’ “Kansas City,” with Griffin taking over on drums.
The evening ended with Mumford & Sons closing the show with “I Will Wait.” The tour continues tomorrow, Saturday, March 22 at The Chicago Theatre in Chicago.
