The Motet hit Red Rocks on July 12 for their annual hometown throwdown at the iconic Colorado venue. The funk outfit gave backup singers Jennifer Hartswick and Natalie Cressman of Trey Anastasio Band as well as Galactic collaborator Erica Falls the spotlight for a rendition of Janet Jackson’s “What Have You Done For Me Lately.”

The Janet Jackson cover followed a “Drums” section featuring Stanton Moore of Galactic — who co-headlined the show along with openers Moon Hooch — and Thievery Corporation’s Jeff Franca, in a set that also featured a number of songs from The Motet’s 2019 album Death Or Devotion including “That Dream,” “Supernova,” “Speed Of Light,” “Whatcha Gonna Bring,” “Joke’s On Me,” “Get It Right,” “Contagious” and the title track.

The band encored with Death Or Devotion’s “Highly Compatible” and “The Truth” from their 2016 LP Totem. Check out the full setlist along with fan-shot video of “What Have You Done For Me Lately” captured by linusj below:
