Dominican Holidaze continued Saturday at Breathless & Now Onyx in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Day two’s action included two sets by The Disco Biscuits who welcomed The Motet horn section to sit-in on a cover of a David Bowie song.
A standalone “Above The Waves” was played by the waves crashing into the nearby shore as Bisco kicked off their beachside performance. Next came the addition of trumpeter Gabe Mervine and saxophonist Drew Sayers of The Motet on a rendition of Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” The guests left ahead of a segue into “The Great Abyss” which transitioned into an inverted “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a” and the set closing “Mr. Don.”
“Save The Robots” opened the tDB’s second set and the quartet later returned to the song at the close of the frame. In between, the group inserted “Shem-Rah Boo” into the ending of “Morph Dusseldorf” followed by “Triumph.” The Disco Biscuits posted video footage of the “Let’s Dance” collaboration, check out the footage below:
Here’s a bit of “Humuhumunukunukuapua’a” as well:
