Following in the tradition established by Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends,” a cover of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight” recorded by country singer-songwriter Chris Stapleton, hip-hop star Snoop Dogg and renowned drummer Cindy Blackman Santana premiered last night as the new theme for ESPN’s Monday Night Football. The updated version of “In The Air Tonight” aired before last night’s New Orleans Saints vs. Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Cleveland Browns NFL games and will be used for MNF and other ESPN broadcasts throughout this NFL season.

ESPN’s Creative Content Unit produced the new opening sequence along with Stapleton, Snoop Dogg and Blackman Santana. Grammy-award-winning producer Dave Cobb, who has frequently worked with Stapleton, was also part of the production team.
