moe. Plays 3-Song Second Set At The Huckleberry Jam

On Friday night in Tamarack, Idaho, moe. made their last proper performance (they’ll also perform as phil.moe. alongside Phil Lesh next month at Lockn’) count before an indefinite break as bassist Rob Derhak enters treatment for oropharyngeal cancer. As headliners of The Huckleberry Jam, moe. hit the stage for a full two-set performance following sets by the one-two NOLA punch of Naughty Professor and Galactic.

During a segue-filled show live-streamed on the band’s Facebook page, moe. delivered the goods to fans tuning in from around the world and on the ground in Idaho with a full show of originals spanning the band’s entire career. The concert was notably marked by a massive improv-heavy set two that included marathon performances of heavy hitters “Recreational Chemistry” and the instrumental “meat.” before wrapping up the previously open-ended “Moth” that opened the show.

After what appeared to be the originally planned ending of the show and “Wind It Up” encore, Derhak and his band mates returned to the stage, with the bassist remarking, “I thought we were done?,” ahead of treating fans to a second encore of “Captain America” to round out the night.

moe. will return to the stage for their last currently scheduled performance at next month’s Lockn’ Festival for the penultimate set on the event’s final day. And we’re wishing Derhak a speedy recovery!
