On Thursday, moe. kicked off their 17th-annual moe.down music festival at Turin, New York’s Snow Ridge Ski Resort. After debuting a Tom Petty cover, “American Girl,” in honor of 4th of July, the Buffalo, New York jam act turned to another classic rock act, Allman Brothers Band, on the second night of the festival.

moe. opened up the first set of their Friday night sets with the debut cover of ABB’s “Blue Sky,” the jubilant track off 1972’s Eat A Peach. Marking the first time the tune was ever played by the group, the band then moved through a series of long-standing fan-favorite originals starting with “Silver Sun,” which featured Chris Porambo on guitar and sported teases of “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed”. The band also performed “St. Augustine,” “Shoot First,” and “meat.” plus “Dangerous Game,” which was debuted earlier in the year.

During the second set of the night, moe. opened with “Stranger Than Fiction,” with newer tune “Along For The Ride” used to transition into “Bearson.” Another 2019 debut, “Jazz Cigarette,” came ahead of a combination featuring “Mar DeMa” into “Lazarus.” To close out the set, the band offered up a take on “Wind It Up,” off 2007’s The Conch. For the final song of the night, the group offered “Queen Of Everything” as an encore.
