Tourmates MJ Lenderman & The Wind and Ryan Davis & The Roadhouse Band have been closing their shows with encores featuring collaborative performances of Warren Zevon’s “Werewolves Of London.” The trend continued last night in Philadelphia, with Davis altering one of the verses to make reference to prominent Philly figures.
Philadelphia-based singer-songwriter Dan Wriggins of Friendship was also part of the amalgamation of musicians — some donning Halloween masks — onstage at Union Transfer at the start of Lenderman’s encore. Frontman MJ Lenderman and his band are our tour in support of the standout 2024 album, Manning Fireworks.

Davis delivered the final verse of “Werewolves,” name-checking several Philly icons along the way. Davis inserted mentions of Philadelphia Phillies baseball legend John Kruk, native rapper Meek Mill, Philadelphia 76ers basketball players Paul George and Joel Embiid, local musician Kurt Vile, and Rittenhouse Square Park into the song. The Wind guitarist, and current Philadelphia resident, Jon Samuels was singled out by Davis as well.
