It had been nearly two years since Mike Gordon played a show with his long-running, five-piece solo band. Last night the group finally kicked off their first extensive U.S. tour since 2011 with a sold-out, two-set show at The Westcott Theater in Syracuse, NY.

The band, which finds the Phish bassist joined by percussionist Craig Myers, guitarist Scott Murawski, drummer Todd Isler and keyboardist Tom Cleary, filled the majority of the setlist with songs from Gordon’s three most recent studio releases -2008’s Green Sparrow (“Traveled Too Far,” “Jaded,” “Andelman’s Yard”, “Dig Further Down”), 2010’s Moss (“Fire From A Stick”) and the just-released Overstep LP (“Ether,” “Say Something,” “Face,” “Paint” and “Peel”). Mike’s group also worked in versions of “Sugar Shack,” which Phish recorded for Joy in 2009, Max Creek’s “Cruel World,” “Hap Nappy” from the GRAB days and more. Both Murawski and Gordon fired up neon lights on their guitars towards the end of the first set that they played while bouncing up and down:
