MGMT Record Song In Honor Of Alan Vega

On Saturday, influential electronic musician and vocalist Alan Vega passed away at age 78. The co-founder of Suicide alongside Martin Rev was a pioneering force in the earlier punk movement, influencing countless musicians from across a spectrum of genres. Many of those musicians have paid tribute to Vega after hearing of his death, including psyche-rockers MGMT who recorded a cover of one of his solo songs in his honor.

Originally released in 1983 on Vega’s solo album Saturn Strip, MGMT recorded a cover of “Goodbye Darling.” Posted below, the cover was shared with note stating it was “in loving memory” of Vega, listen:
