Metallica’s Lars Ulrich & Austin High Marching Band Guest With Mumford & Sons At Austin City Limits Music Festival

Mumford & Sons closed out the latest North American leg of their Delta tour and the second weekend of this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival on Sunday with a set that featured guest appearances from the Austin High Marching Band and Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. The performance took place at Zilker Park in Austin.

The Austin High Marching Band rehearsed with Marcus early on Sunday before the youngsters joined Mumford & Sons for “The Cave” in the middle of the band’s ACL Fest set. Previous collaborations between Mumford & Sons and the Austin High Marching Band took place in 2011 and 2012.

In typical fashion, Mumford & Sons’ performance was heavy on material from 2018’s Delta as nine songs from the LP made it into Sunday’s setlist. Lars Ulrich emerged at the end of the 16-song main set to play drums on “The Wolf.” Mumford & Sons originally released the song on their 2015 studio album, Wilder Mind. After Ulrich’s guest spot and an encore break, the Brits assembled on their smaller B Stage for performances of “Reminder” and “Awake My Soul.” Mumford & Sons then ended the leg of tour and the festival with a run of “Woman,” “I Will Wait” and “Delta.”
