Members Of Lettuce Join Umphreys McGee In Philly

Last night Umphrey’s McGee played River Stage on Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As they did the previous two nights and will again tonight in Baltimore, Lettuce opened the show, but unlike the prior gigs, last night included collaboration between the two groups.

Umphrey’s played one long set, rather than their typical two-set approach, opening their performance with an extended take on “Bridgeless.” UM then moved on to “Higgins” which featured teases of Yes’ “The Fish.” Their set continued with more originals, including “Loose Ends” and “Red Tape” which sequed into “In The Kitchen.” A take on the UM classic “2×2” was followed by the more recent “Bad Friday” which featured Lettuce’s Eric Krasno joining in on guitar. The lone cover played by Umphrey’s, Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer,” was augmented by Adam Smirnoff on guitar, Ryan Zoidis on saxophone and Eric Bloom on trumpet to close out their main set.
A three song encore, “The Floor,” followed by “August” which evolved into “1348,” close out the night. Lettuce opens for Umphrey’s McGee once more tonight at Pier Six Pavilion in Baltimore, Maryland.
