Melissa Etheridge Pays Tribute To Gregg Allman In Santa Cruz

Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Melissa Etheridge led her band through a set at the Santa Cruz American Blues Festival on Saturday. Etheridge took the stage shortly after news of Gregg Allman’s passing was revealed and Melissa paid tribute to the Southern Rock legend during her performance.
Melissa fronted her group on “One Way Out,” a blues song Gregg performed frequently. Etheridge told the crowd about meeting Allman in 1988 when she was just “a young pup.” She said, “the man could sing and the man was inspired by the great soul music that came out of the south.” Etheridge added, “[Gregg] and his brother made such great music, I was raised on the music of the Allman Brothers Band” and talked about listening to Eat A Peach.
