Margo Price Releases New Album ‘That’s How Rumors Get Started’

Margo Price released her third studio album, That’s How Rumors Get Started, today on Loma Vista Recordings. The record’s original May release date was postponed due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic.

Price recorded the follow-up to 2017’s All American Made at EastWest Studios in Los Angeles and co-produced the LP with Sturgill Simpson and David Ferguson. Simpson appears on the album, along with an impressive backing band made up of guitarist Matt Sweeney, bassist Pino Palladino, keyboardist Benmont Tench and drummer James Gadson. Record player-owning, Nashville residents today can order a meal and have a vinyl copy of That's How Rumors Get Started delivered along with their food.

Price previously shared this statement regarding the delay of That’s How Rumors Get Started:

Take me back to the day I started trying to paint my masterpiece so I could warn myself of what was ahead. Time has rearranged, it has slowed down, it has manipulated things like it always does…the words to some of these songs have changed meaning, they now carry heavier weight.

I’ve seen the streets set ablaze, the sky set on fire. I’ve been manic, heartbroken for the world, heartbroken for the country, heartbroken from being heartbroken again and again.

This album is a postcard of a landscape of a moment in time. It’s not political but maybe it will provide an escape or relief to someone who needs it. Sending love to everyone out there and hope I see you down the highway.

Tonight, Price and her band The Price Tags will celebrate the release of the album with an audience-less livetream performance in Nashville at an empty Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge beginning at 7 p.m. CT. Following the livestream will be an after-party on Price’s new internet radio show, Runaway Horses.
