Marco Benevento & Mikaela Davis :: 4.15.16 :: BSP Kingston :: Kingston, NY
Marco Benevento played a sold-out hometown album release party at BSP Kingston last night for his new record The Story Of Fred Short. Joining him was longtime band mate Andy Borger on drums and filling in for Dave Dreiwitz on bass, who was performing with Ween in New York City, was Karina Rykman. Karina did a wonderful job holding down the low end of the music all evening and kept the energy on stage at a high level. The set featured a full run through the second side of The Story Of Fred Short and it sounded great in person. God Street Wine guitarist Aaron Maxwell sat-in during the set on “Heartbeats” and “At The Show.” Opener Mikaela Davis, who played a beautifully tranquil set of spacey rock and roll with her band, joined Marco for the evening’s double encore of David Bowie’s “Heroes” and The Rolling Stones’ “Let’s Spend the Night Together.”
